Students in Ms. Asher's eighth grade English class at West Babylon Junior High School are reading “Brown Girl Dreaming” by Jacqueline Woodson. The autobiography, set in South Carolina during the Civil Rights movement, is written through a series of engaging and emotional poems that examine Woodson’s early life and the relationship between history and identity.
