The West Babylon School District congratulates West Babylon Senior High School junior Grace Gobel on her election as a student leader to the board of education. Grace was selected by her classmates to serve as the district’s first ex-officio student member of the West Babylon Board of Education.
As a non-voting member of the board, Grace will provide valuable student insights to the board and administration while gaining leadership experience and a greater connection to civic responsibility.
“We are so excited to welcome Grace as our first ex-officio board member,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Yiendhy Farrelly said. “Having a student perspective join our trustees will further enhance our decision-making process and help the board and administration continue to put our students at the forefront of our work. I congratulate her and look forward to welcoming her to the board on July 1.”
Grace is already an active member of her school community. She has participated in Blue & Gold since her freshman year and was captain of Lyrical in 2024 and 2025. She is a member of the Varsity Club and Language Honor Society and has received high honor roll throughout her time at the Senior High School. A dancer, Grace performs various styles with Operation Dance and serves as a teacher to younger dance artists. Currently, she is a hostess at The Pizzeria and would like to be a physician assistant.
