Christina Delaney, third grade teacher at South Bay Elementary School, has been named a winner of the Applebee’s Above & “Bee”yond Teacher Essay Contest. Ms. Delaney’s student Kaylee Labriola submitted an essay to Applebee’s nominating her teacher for the award. In her essay, she wrote about how her teacher is “kind, patient and always makes learning fun.” Ms. Delaney will receive a $500 sponsorship check to be used toward her classroom and a special end-of-year class party. Only four teachers on Long Island – two from Nassau County and two from Suffolk County – receive the award each year.
