To honor and recognize those who made the ultimate sacrifice, both Santapogue Elementary School and Forest Avenue Elementary School held assemblies for Memorial Day. At Santapogue, second grade students invited guests to join them as they sang patriotic songs and recited poetry. Around the school’s cafeteria, their poems and artwork were displayed in honor of Memorial Day. Forest Avenue’s fourth and fifth grade student council presented an assembly on the meaning of Memorial Day and what we can do to honor the fallen, placing two wreaths in memory of fallen soldiers.
