On April 29, three teams representing West Babylon Senior High School competed at the third annual Kite Festival at Cedar Beach. Schools from the township of Babylon, including Copiague, Wyandanch and West Babylon, competed in the annual kite festival by creating and flying their own kites. This competition included grades K-12, divided into three divisions: elementary, middle and high school. Despite some damage taken by endless practice flights, one of the West Babylon Senior High School teams placed second in the high school division. This event is co-sponsored by the North Babylon Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Babylon. It is also partially funded by Suffolk County through a grant by Legislator Tom Donnelly.
