During a recent hands-on STEM lesson, the third graders at John F. Kennedy Elementary School dissected owl pellets. Working alongside an invited guest, the students analyzed the pellets for different bones and then worked to match the bones with skeletal parts to reconstruct what the owl ate. The lesson was a culminating activity to their study of ecosystems and food chains.
