Forest Avenue Elementary School has been piloting a new flexible seating program for students this year. Students are given a choice to work in a space that is most comfortable for them. Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. It also helps keep young minds stay more alert and focused. In this kindergarten classroom, students are given a multitude of options from which to choose, including beanbag chairs, scoop rockers, balls, carpet and even a tent.
