At Tooker Avenue Elementary School, first to fifth grade students are participating in small group English language arts/math instruction for 50 minutes each day as part of a schoolwide intervention program. The students are divided into groups based on common needs, and they work with teachers on very specific goals throughout the school year. The students are enjoying this opportunity and are showing measurable growth in these core academic subject areas, according to Principal Charles Germano. This individualized attention allows students to succeed and is helping each of them achieve goals during their regular ELA and math instruction each day.
