The West Babylon Fire Department visited John F. Kennedy Elementary School for Fire Prevention Month and conducted outdoor assemblies for all K-5 students on Oct. 19.

Students were able to see how firefighters put on their gear. They learned about how firefighters use their trucks to fight fires. Students also learned about how firefighters use special tools like the jaws of life to save lives. Students were engaged and learned a lot about the work that firemen do and the sacrifices they make to keep everyone safe. Several John F. Kennedy Elementary School students have parents and other family members in the fire department who were a part of this experience.
