An Apple a Day Makes Learning Fun in Pre-K

Prekindergarten students at South Bay and John F. Kennedy Elementary Schools are celebrating the fall season by learning all about apples through a variety of fun, hands-on activities that combine early literacy, math and fine motor skills.
Students put their creativity to work by making their own apple-themed projects in shades of red and green. They also practiced their math skills by measuring how tall they are using apples as their unit of measurement. To add a little taste to their learning, students participated in an apple taste test to determine which color apple was their favorite.
The apple-themed fun continued as students used apples as stamps to create colorful apple trees. They also developed their vocabulary and observational skills by creating circle maps and labeling the different parts of the fruit. Through these engaging activities, students are building foundational academic skills while exploring the sights, colors and tastes of fall.
