Learning Comes to Life with Fourth Grade Diorama Showcase

Fourth graders in Mrs. DeLapi and Mr. Campbell’s class at South Bay Elementary School brought their social studies learning to life by showcasing dioramas created as part of their unit on Native Americans of New York State.
As part of the project, students explored the history, cultures and traditions of Native American tribes who have lived in New York State. They used their knowledge and creativity to develop dioramas that reflect what they learned throughout the unit.
The fourth graders presented their projects to second and third grade students in the school’s art room on Oct. 14, giving younger learners an opportunity to explore the displays, learn from their peers and build on their own understanding of New York State history. The showcase provided a meaningful opportunity for students to share their work, celebrate their learning and make connections across grade levels.
