Three West Babylon School District teams competed in the annual Science Olympiad Regional Tournament on Jan. 28. Suffolk County boasts 53 teams, the largest in the state, allowing only the top eight schools to move on to the state competition. West Babylon finished fourth in Suffolk County, earning a place at states.

The following West Babylon students won medals in their individual events. Each event gave out medals to the top 10 teams with West Babylon earning 17 medals in total:
• Second place in astronomy – Taylor Weber and Justina Stasiak
• Third place in bridge – Rosalin Watras and Ella Simonson
• Seventh place in cell biology ¬– Kai Miller and Will Horowitz
• Ninth place in cell biology – Nicole Rex and Olivia Stuart
• Ninth place in Codebusters – Anthony Rex, Cole Bricker and George Cooke
• Third place in Codebusters – Eamon Murray, Alex Burkhardt and Justin Jastrzebski
• Ninth place in detector building – Logan Iversen and Alex Burkhardt
• Sixth place in dynamic planet – Tyler Lejman and Justina Stasiak
• Eighth place in experimental design – Taylor Weber, Julia Jakubiasiak and Tyler Lejman
• Eighth place in flight – Ismael Villacis and Jon Canales
• Fifth place in light – Anthony Rex and Cole Bricker
• 10th place in forensics – Andrew Madalone and Vamsi Parkh
• Third place in forensics – Zuzanna Obrycki and Nhu Nguyen
• Fifth place in forestry – George Cooke and John Gorczynski
• Third place in scrambler – Ryan Marvin
• Third place in Write It Do It – Tyler Lejman and Taylor Weber
