West Babylon School District students in the elementary summer school program at South Bay Elementary School discovered the world of renowned artist Pablo Picasso during a creative library lesson with librarian Ms. Ingrid.

Students in kindergarten through fourth grade learned about Picasso’s life and artistic style, focusing on cubism, an innovative art movement known for depicting subjects from multiple perspectives using bold geometric shapes and vibrant colors.

After learning about Picasso’s famous works, students put their new knowledge into practice by designing their own cubist-inspired self-portraits. Using bright colors and abstract shapes, each student created a unique work of art that reflected Picasso's imaginative approach while showcasing their own creativity.
