The junior high school art department is showcasing the talents of its students through a special exhibit at the West Babylon Public Library. The display, located in the children's area through the end of August, is part of an ongoing collaboration between the school district and the library to celebrate student creativity and promote the arts within the community.

The exhibit features artwork created by advanced seventh grade Art Workshop students, highlighting two unique projects that demonstrate both technical skill and creative expression.

One collection showcases narrative hand drawings, in which students created original compositions centered on a personal emotion. By carefully selecting hand positions, backgrounds and supporting details, students developed visual narratives while applying their understanding of composition, proportion, observation and value. Using pencil and color, students emphasized key elements of their artwork to draw viewers into the story behind each piece.

The exhibit also includes animal portrait drawings, realistic pencil renderings inspired by animals from the Babylon Animal Shelter. As part of the project, students collaborated with the shelter to raise awareness about animal adoption while strengthening their artistic techniques, particularly their use of value to create depth and realism.

The district is proud to partner with the West Babylon Public Library to provide students with an opportunity to share their work beyond the classroom and inspire the community through art.
