Art in Action: West Babylon Students Bring Local Landmarks to Life

West Babylon Junior High School eighth grade Honors Studio Art students recently transformed their creativity and artistic skills into a lasting tribute to their community through a collaborative mural project.
Students completed and unveiled a mural created for Bricks & Minifigs in West Babylon, showcasing their talent, teamwork and connection to the community. The project provided students with an opportunity to apply their artistic techniques while creating a meaningful piece of public artwork.
Inspired by the places and people that make West Babylon special, the mural features scenes of Argyle Park, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, local children, and community landmarks and symbols including “I Love New York,” Babylon Town Hall, WB Strong and the Argyle Theatre.
Throughout the process, students collaborated on the design, composition and execution of the mural while exploring how art can tell a story and strengthen community connections. The project highlighted the importance of arts education and the ability of student artists to make a positive impact through their work.
The mural celebration also included a visit from Babylon Town Supervisor Rich Schaefer, who greeted the student artists and viewed their completed work. The West Babylon School District congratulates the young artists for their dedication, creativity and commitment to representing their community through this inspiring project.
