Student Musicians Earn Top Honors at Music in the Parks Festival

The West Babylon School District’s music department recently delivered outstanding performances at the annual Music in the Parks festival and competition at Six Flags Great Adventure.
Students representing the orchestra, treble choir, guitar ensemble and jazz ensemble each performed for a panel of adjudicators, receiving constructive feedback and ratings in recognition of their musical achievements. The event provided students with a valuable opportunity to showcase their talents while continuing to grow as musicians.
All ensembles performed exceptionally well, reflecting the students’ dedication and the tireless efforts of their teachers. The orchestra earned second place in its division with a rating of excellent. The treble choir achieved first place honors with a superior rating, while the guitar ensemble also secured first place with a superior rating. The jazz ensemble earned first place in its division with a rating of excellent.
In addition to the group accolades, senior Kyle Westcott was recognized as a top soloist, receiving a medal for his outstanding guitar performance with the jazz ensemble.
The district commends all student musicians and staff members for their commitment, perseverance and impressive accomplishments. Their success highlights the strength of the district’s music program and the dedication to excellence shared by both students and educators.
