Tooker Avenue Celebrates Chinese New Year

Students at Tooker Avenue Elementary School recently celebrated the Chinese New Year, welcoming the Year of the Horse with engaging cultural activities during their library classes with Mrs. Francisco.
As part of the celebration, students explored Chinese folklore and fairy tales through read-aloud sessions and readers’ theater. They also participated in hands-on activities such as lantern making and creating Year of the Horse crowns, deepening their understanding of the holiday’s traditions and symbols.
This year’s festivities began on Feb. 17 and concluded on March 3 with the traditional Lantern Festival. Through these activities, students gained insight into cultural customs while celebrating themes of renewal, good health, luck, love and prosperity.
