Monday, February 23rd - Snow Day- School Closed
Dear WB families, staff and faculty,
As you may be aware, New York State has declared a State of Emergency due to the anticipated winter storm.
The New York State Education Department (NYSED) just provided updated guidance indicating that school districts are not required to pivot to remote instruction during tomorrow’s weather-related closure. The Commissioner has further announced that districts forced to close schools as a result of this storm will be granted a waiver for the February 23, 2026 school day, in accordance with the State’s instructional requirement.
Based on this guidance, the District will transition from the previously planned virtual remote instructional day to a traditional snow day for tomorrow, February 23, 2026. No remote instruction will take place, and schools will be fully closed.
Please note that any communications, materials, or plans previously shared regarding virtual instructional days may be utilized for future emergency closures, should NYSED guidance permit. At this time, no additional direction has been provided for dates beyond February 23, 2026.
The safety of our students, families, and staff remains our top priority. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we respond to evolving conditions and guidance.
Please stay safe, and thank you for your continued cooperation.
Dr. Yiendhy Farrelly
Superintendent of Schools
