John F. Kennedy’s Mighty Mentors Make Big Impact

In recognition of National Mentoring Month, John F. Kennedy Elementary School held the first meeting of Mighty Mentors, a morning program designed to support students’ social-emotional growth through meaningful connections with trusted adults on Jan. 30.
Mighty Mentors takes place on select Fridays throughout the school year before the start of the school day. The program brings together students who may benefit from additional social-emotional support and pairs them with teachers and staff members in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
During each session, students and mentors engage in interactive games, activities and conversations that encourage communication, confidence and relationship building. The informal setting allows students to feel comfortable, build trust and strengthen positive connections with adults in the school community.
Mighty Mentors reflects the district’s commitment to supporting the whole child by fostering a sense of belonging, promoting emotional well-being and ensuring that every student feels seen, supported and encouraged to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
