Fourteen students from the West Babylon School District recently attended the Suffolk County Music Educators Association’s Parents, Educators and Kids Festival on Oct. 28 at Northport High School. The program offers a unique opportunity for students to make music along with their parents and teachers. Students participate in this mini-conference alongside a parent, featuring fun and new musical experiences by some of Long Island’s most innovative teachers.

While at the festival, students participated in various workshops, including Ukulele, Drumtastic Drums Alive, Folk Dance, Parachute, Singing Games, World Music Drumming and Fitness. The festival promotes collaboration with students from other school districts across Suffolk County.

Congratulations to the following students: Forest Avenue Elementary School – Harper Higgins-Zito, Brian Mahoney and Grace Rosenberger; John F. Kennedy Elementary School – Dante Brown, Aiden Douglas, Jaylen Hicks and Kelsey Walters; Santapogue Elementary School – Daniel Alvarez, Nisa Demiroglu and Scarlett Staiano; South Bay Elementary School – Margarito Reyes-Fuentes; and Tooker Avenue Elementary School – Aubrey Dunsmore, Daniel Gut and Madelyn Palmese.
