March 2 was Read Across America Day/Dr. Seuss’ birthday and the students and staff at John F. Kennedy Elementary School celebrated in many different ways. Students played book bingo, participated in various activities in their library classes and the whole school participated in a read aloud of “Once Upon a Book.” Different character clues were read during morning announcements throughout the week, and students had the opportunity to guess the book character. The school also coordinated a spirit day with kindergarten and first graders wearing pajamas, second and third graders dressing as book characters and fourth and fifth graders dressing for success.
