Junior High School Studio Art students studied texture with the medium of chalk pastel on velour paper. The students learned a technique of gridding to replicate their animals on a larger scale. Eighth grade art students worked on an abstract unit which covered Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky, focusing on the elements of line, color and principle of movement. They created compositions that illustrated music since Kandinsky was a painter and pianist.
