Students and staff at Santapogue Elementary School celebrated World Kindness Day on Nov. 13 with a week filled with kindness activities, organized by the school’s student council.

The school kicked off the week with spirit days such as wearing a jersey for team kindness and pajamas to dream of kindness. To coincide with their spirit wear, students participated in different kindness activities. Enrichment students created a kindness chain with a variety of positive messages on each link. They also learned about the ripple effect of kindness by dropping different objects into a bucket of water. Students learned that even small acts of kindness can create a chain reaction. They wrote down seven acts of kindness they could do in the next few days.

Second graders wrote short messages of kindness and filled up a bucket of kindness. They read some of the messages during the school’s morning and afternoon announcements. The first graders read “A Little Spot of Kindness.” They then created their own spots and wrote about ways they could be kind.
