Soggy weather conditions didn’t dampen the spirit of the West Babylon community as they came out in full force to celebrate homecoming on Oct. 30. Starting with a pep rally at the West Babylon Senior High School on Friday, the festivities on Saturday morning kicked off with a homecoming parade.

Led by the West Babylon Senior High School marching band, the parade ventured down Little East Neck Road and ended at the West Babylon Junior High School. Each of the elementary schools marched with their own school banners as the cheerleaders rode atop several different vehicles. The swim team and cross-country teams also joined the parade as well as central office administrators. This year’s float was a combined “superhero” effort by all four of the classes.

Prior to game time, senior athletes from the football and cheerleading teams were recognized on the field with their invited guests. On the Junior High School’s turf field, the West Babylon varsity football team took on Centereach High School. The Eagles dominated the Cougars from the start of the game, scoring 30 points in the first half of the game alone. Centereach tried to stage a comeback but the Eagles put up a big win with a final score of 40-31. Both the marching band and the cheerleaders entertained the crowds with high-energy performances during the halftime show.

To close out the homecoming festivities, the Senior High School held a dance on Saturday evening where Joshua Wildermuth and Angelina Ghabra were crowned the homecoming king and queen.
