Two student-musicians from the Senior High School – Carissa Brock and Aidan Carberry – have been selected to participate in the New York State School Music Association’s All-State Conference in Rochester, from Dec. 5-8. In addition, Katie Gennings (alto 1) and Ryan O’Sullivan (clarinet) were selected as alternates and could be invited to participate if an opening becomes available.

Carissa was selected as an alto I for the All-State Mixed Chorus, while Carberry will play drums in the All-State Instrumental Jazz Ensemble. Aidan’s selection for drum set in the Instrumental Jazz Ensemble gives him the highest ranking in New York State among all students who auditioned for this prestigious position.

Thousands of students from across New York State audition for a spot in these elite ensembles in regional NYSSMA solo festivals across New York State. Selection is made by a NYSSMA selection committee who reviews each student’s NYSSMA solo festival score, as well as teacher and adjudicator recommendations.
