Two Senior High School students have been chosen for the Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance in Musical Theater. For their performance in “Little Shop of Horrors,” Jenna Halvorsen (Audrey) and Ryan Lewis (Seymour) were picked for the top 50 students in New York State to move onto the preliminary round as best actor and best actress nominees. This is the fifth year in a row that West Babylon students have been chosen to be in the top 50. The two West Babylon students attended a master class in New York City with industry professionals on May 19, followed by a Facebook Live showcase on the Roger Rees Awards page.
Update: Our students joined 48 other semifinalists in this regional competition. The students had vocal and dramatic coachings from industry professionals and learned new routines for the ceremony. Although neither student won the competition, Jenna Halvorsen made it to the final – one of only six females in the state!
