Students in Debbie LoSardo’s class at South Bay Elementary recently read a nonfiction passage about pine cones. Within the passage was a suggestion to get your own pine cones to observe. After collecting three different types of cones, students sketched the cones and put them in the sun to open. The students made observations about the differences and as an art project, turned their pinecones into owls.
