Fifth-graders at South Bay Elementary are helping those in their community and saving the earth at the same time. The students, who are part of a voluntary recess enrichment group, are learning how to use plarn (yarn made out of recycled plastic bags). After watching a tutorial online, the students are crocheting the plarn into upcycled sleeping mats for the homeless.
