On Feb. 2, Ms. Williams’s third grade class at Tooker Avenue Elementary School engaged in interactive Groundhog’s Day activities. The class made their predictions on whether they thought the groundhog would see his shadow or not, and documented the class votes into a scaled graph. The students then had the choice to answer opinion prompts, write a fictional narrative related to Groundhog’s Day or explore fractions of colored groundhogs. Most students were elated to hear the news of a potential early spring, while others were hoping for more snow in their future.
