The West Babylon School District’s transportation department has earned a perfect score on their New York State Department of Transportation inspection rating.

“I am very proud of our transportation department,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Yiendhy Farrelly. “They are responsible for transporting our most precious cargo and it is comforting to see them rewarded for their hard work.”

West Babylon’s transportation supervisor Bryan Velez credits the hard work of his team, shop supervisor Ismael Gonzales, and mechanics Arthur Phillips, John Canon and John DeFrancisco. “I have worked as a supervisor in three different companies and have never had a shop achieve a 100 percent pass rate,” Velez said. “This rating is a tribute to the dedication of the entire transportation team here in the West Babylon School District.”

The West Babylon School District runs a fleet of 71 school vehicles. All of its vehicles are inspected every six months under strict guidelines enforced by the New York State Department of Transportation.
