After reading the book “Sneezy the Snowman,” students in Mrs. Belpanno’s kindergarten class at Forest Avenue Elementary School were inspired to make their own. During a language lesson with Mrs. Belpanno and Mrs. Vlachos, the students used marshmallows to make their snowmen. The students used the “expanding expressions tool” to describe a marshmallow and then sorted marshmallows by size. They then followed one-step directions incorporating size and spatial concepts to build a snowman out of the marshmallows.
