Board of Education adopts bond resolution

Community vote planned for Tuesday, Dec. 6


During the Sept. 28 meeting of the West Babylon Board of Education, the board adopted a resolution to submit a bond proposition to the voters of the district on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

The proposed projects focus on necessary safety capital repairs at West Babylon Senior High School and South Bay Elementary School. At a cost not to exceed $9.7 million, the following projects, if approved by voters, would be seen through completion:

• Full replacement of the West Babylon Senior High School roof.

• Water service line and condensate tank replacement as well as subsequent driveway reconstruction at South Bay Elementary School.

• Reconstruction of South Bay Elementary School parking lot, including additional parking, paving, upgraded draining, curbing, sidewalks and lighting.

• Reconstruction and replacement of asphalt in the west area of the back field, including replacement and added drainage.

To share information on the proposal, the district will host the following community meetings:

Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.
Senior High School Cafeteria 

Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.
South Bay Elementary School

Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
Board of Education meeting room

Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.
Senior High School Performing Arts Center

Community members unable to attend any of these presentations may watch the Nov. 9 presentation via YouTube. The link will be made available on the district’s website the evening of Nov. 9.

The bond vote is scheduled for Dec. 6, from 7 a.m. – 9 p.m., in the administration wing of the senior high school and Santapogue Elementary School. More information on the projects will be made available through the district’s website and via a voter guide mailed to all community residents.
