Three New Faces Join the West Babylon Team

West Babylon School District has recently named three appointments prior to the start of the 2022-2023 school year. Denise Gillis has been appointed assistant superintendent for finance and operations; Marie Dalton is the new director of student services – pre-K-6, and Margaret Dixon has been named school lunch manager.

Ms. Gillis joined the West Babylon team on Aug. 29 from Jericho School District, where she served as assistant business administrator since July 2018. Prior to that, she worked as an accounting supervisor performing internal and external audits for school districts. Ms. Gillis holds a Bachelor of Science in business management from the University of North Carolina and a Master of Business Administration in accounting from Hofstra University.

Ms. Dalton, who officially started on Aug. 18, previously served as the chairperson of special education at Sewanhaka Central School District since 2018. Ms. Dalton also worked as a special education teacher for more than 13 years in Malverne School District. She holds a Master of Science degree in childhood and special education from Molloy University and an advanced certificate in educational leadership from LIU.

Ms. Dixon was named school lunch manager on Aug. 8. She has worked for the Nassau County Department of Health as a public health sanitarian, course instructor and special events coordinator for more than 10 years. She has also served as New York State contract tracing supervisor for the past two years. Ms. Dixon holds a bachelor’s degree in hotel/restaurant/institutional management from Johnson & Wales University.
