JFK and South Bay Honor Veterans with Heartfelt Ceremonies

In recognition of Veterans Day, South Bay Elementary School and John F. Kennedy Elementary School paid special tribute to local veterans on Nov. 10 with a heartfelt breakfast and recognition ceremony.
At John F. Kennedy Elementary School, students invited special guests who have served in the armed forces to join them for breakfast and photos in the school’s cafeteria. The event provided students the opportunity to personally thank the veterans for their service and sacrifices.
Following breakfast, the entire school community gathered in the gymnasium for a moving ceremony. Principal Denisha Van Liew and several students welcomed attendees and expressed their gratitude before presenting personalized certificates of appreciation to each veteran in attendance. Town of Babylon Councilman Terence McSweeney and Town Clerk Gerry Compitello were also in attendance to offer their thanks and gratitude to the veterans.
At South Bay Elementary School, students also hosted a Veterans Day celebration. Each student invited a special guest and participated in a smaller ceremony where they shared details of essays they had written honoring the veterans in their lives. Afterward, students and their guests enjoyed breakfast together, reflecting on the meaning of the day and the importance of service.
