West Babylon School District has named Denisha Van Liew as principal of John F. Kennedy Elementary School, effective Aug. 1. 

An alumnus of West Babylon School District, Ms. Van Liew previously served as acting principal and assistant principal of West Middle Island Elementary School in Middle Island. Prior to that, she worked as an elementary teacher in the same school.

Ms. Van Liew holds a Bachelor of Science degree from LIU Post and a Master of Science degree from Dowling College. In addition, she holds advanced certificates in school building leader and school district leader from Dowling College.

“As a graduate of West Babylon, I have a special connection here,” said Ms. Van Liew. “I am looking forward to getting to know the community and staff and working together with them to provide the best educational experience for our JFK students.”
