By title, the responsibilities of this office are self explanatory. Relating to health and physical education, Mr. Spinelli works closely with the executive director for curriculum and student services (Mrs. Tona) and the director of student services (Mr. Mack) to see that all students are receiving an age level appropriate health and physical education program in line with NYS learning standards and the Board of Education policies. Additionally, the Nurses and School Nurse Teachers (SNT) of the district are coordinated through this office. As the director, Mr. Spinelli supervises the K-5 programs and is assisted by the chairperson of health and physical education at the secondary schools (Mrs. Richert) to implement curriculum guide to one of the most comprehensive programs in the state. In the area of intramurals and interscholastic sports, Mr. Spinelli works closely with the executive director of human resources (Dr. Farrelly) to ensure we have the most qualified coaches and with the plant facilities administrator (Mr. Graziano) to provide the best possible fields and gymnasiums. This would be remise to leave out the principals who work closely with Mr. Spinelli in juggling the use of the elementary schools' fields and gymnasiums for both school and community use.

Mr. Spinelli came to West Babylon Schools in November 2003 as a junior high school Administrative Assistant and science teacher. He was the director of S.A.F.E (Student After-school Fun in Education) located at Santapogue Elementary School from September 2005 through June 2008 leading up to this position. Additionally he served as the principal of secondary summer school grades 6-12 in West Babylon for the 2007 and 2008 summers.

Mr. Spinelli started his college career on an athletic scholarship before transferring to SUNY Stony Brook and earning his B.S. in Biology. After a career on Wall Street, Mr. Spinelli returned to school to complete his M.S. in Education and Administrative Certification at Dowling College.
