Welcome to the West Babylon Senior high School. West Babylon High School is a comprehensive high school that offers a diverse academic program while promoting the arts, business and technology, and family and consumer sciences. Our students are being made college and career ready in order to succeed in the 21st century workplace and the world. Our Social, Emotional and Academic Learning program, entering its sixth year, parallels  the Dignity for All Students Act, and is the foundation for creating a safe learning environment in which our students can learn and develop the emotional competencies that lead to success in the 21st century world for which they are being prepared.

Our co curricular activities, including our athletic teams, mirror this focus. and add to the total development of our students.  Groups such as our GSA and LEO clubs lead the school in activities that teach acceptance, compassion, empathy and service to others.  Our students develop their leadership skills in the classroom, in their clubs and organizations and on the athletic fields.  They are ready when they leave the high school to assume these roles and successfully further their studies and work.

The Tri-M Music Honor Society, under the advisement of Dana Meadows, attended the annual Light the Night Walk on Oct. 20.

For the past nine years, West Babylon’s student-musicians have attended this event. Band members played field show music and jock jams as a pep band and other music department students held signs and cheered for the walkers.

Light the Night Walk is a fundraising campaign of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society which brings together families and communities to honor blood cancer survivors, as well as those lost to the diseases. The event also shines a light on the importance of finding cures and providing access to treatments for blood cancer.

The Senior High School has been named a Blue Star School for its students’ performance on the 2016-2017 Working in Support of Education’s financial literacy certification test. West Babylon Senior High School is one of only 232 high schools in the nation to earn the distinction.

To earn the Blue Star School distinction, a school must have achieved an 80 percent passing rate on the test and have either a majority of students on a given grade level take the test or have the students who took it achieve an average score of 85 percent or higher.

Blue Star Schools was honored at the National MoneyPOWER Financial Literacy Conference on Nov. 7 in New York City.
