Big Band Competition
On March 24, the Big Band performed at the Greenwich Jazz Festival in
Greenwich, Connecticut. This festival hosts bands from as far north as
Canada and all over New England and requires them to perform the music
of Duke Ellington for adjudication and individual awards. The judges
this year were famed trumpet player Jon Faddis, legendary jazz musician
and educator Ronald Carter, and Jim Gaiser, director of jazz at the New
World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida. West Babylon was awarded
three best soloist awards to Aidan Carberry, Hannah Leddy, and Natalie
McIntosh.
