Back in September, Forest Avenue Principal Acocella challenged Ms. Wilken's class to collectively read 3,000 books within the 2016-2017 school year. If they did, then Principal Acocella would treat them to a party -- pizza or ice cream or pajama day. The rules required that each student contributed equally, no one person could carry the load, everyone had to do his/her share. As of May 15, Ms. Wilken's students have read 4,222 books. They have exceeded their goal! They earned a pizza & ice cream party. It is well deserved. What should next year's reading challenge be? The students are already thinking about it. Challenge on!!! Knowing how important and FUN reading is, they plan to participate in the West Babylon Public Library Summer Reading Program.
