First-graders in Lisa DeGennaro’s class at John F. Kennedy learned about the voting process and held their own election on Nov. 7. They learned about the candidates by reading the books “Duck for President,” “Grace for President” and “My Teacher for President.” The students designed campaign posters and completed voter registration cards. On “election day,” each student cast their vote for one of the three candidates, and Ms. DeGennaro announced that Duck won the presidential race.
