Construction work has been steadily progressing this summer throughout the district, as upgrades continue from the bond referendum approved by West Babylon voters in January 2015.

The second phase of floor tile replacements is underway at both John F. Kennedy Elementary School and the junior high school. The abatement of lead ceramic tiles in cafeteria B at the junior high is also continuing.

Also at the junior high, much work is taking place outside including the replacement of sidewalks, curbing and the parking lot.

Work is ongoing at the high school to upgrade its athletic facilities, both inside and out. A new floor is being installed this summer in the main gymnasium. Outside, the site is being prepared for a new multi-purpose synthetic turf field.
