South Bay educators were recognized at the Suffolk County Legislature Teacher Appreciation Awards Night on June 7 at North Babylon High School. First-grade teacher Erin Castelli and speech/language pathologist Jill DeLuca were recognized as outstanding teachers. Kara Levy, South Bay library media specialist, was also recognized with an honorable mention, along with all the district’s librarians.
Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory presented Castelli and DeLuca with a proclamation. Nominated by South Bay Principal JoAnn Scott, educators who receive these awards go the extra mile, working above and beyond what is required, are an inspiration to their peers, collaborate with colleagues to improve student achievement, inspire lifelong learning and are master teachers and educational leaders.
