Third-graders from South Bay took their science, technology, engineering and mathematics lessons outside the classroom and into a local roller skating rink.
The students took a field trip to United Skates of America in Seaford on May 18 to learn about the science of the roller skate. As part of their STEM activities, students observed different parts of the roller skate, like the wheel and axle, studied different textures to explore high and low friction and were even able to design their own roller skates. The third-graders even had some time to test their roller skating skills before heading back to school.
