Elementary schools throughout the district celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday/Read Across America on March 2 with a variety of hands-on learning activities.

Read-alouds by parents, teachers or principals took place throughout the day at Forest Avenue, Tooker Avenue, Santapogue, JFK and South Bay elementary schools. After reading some Dr. Seuss classics, Forest Avenue students used their own imaginations to create seussical hats and hot air balloons. Using their Chromebooks, students ventured online to learn more about the author.

Students at South Bay brought their favorite Dr. Seuss books to school to read with their classmates, and many writing activities were focused on the famous author/illustrator. All the classrooms even had a special guest visitor, the Cat in the Hat, who distributed bookmarks to all the students.
