Senior High School students Daniel Santos and Kimberly Franco presented their behavioral science study on the impact of cell phone distractions on adolescent cognition at the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair on Feb. 3. The students worked extremely hard in researching and implementing a college-level research study. The study concluded that although cell phones pose a significant distraction to learning, many students are adapting to the distraction with an improved ability to multitask. The study also indicated that future research should focus on how to incorporate cell phones as a learning tool and resource.
