Dear West Babylon Community,

It has come to the district’s attention that on Monday, Oct. 26, an unknown male on a bicycle approached one of our female student-athletes while competing in a meet with the cross-country team at Belmont Lake State Park. The district immediately contacted law enforcement and park officials and an investigation is currently underway.

As always, the safety and security of our students is the district’s top priority and we strongly encourage all parents to review safety protocols with their children. With Halloween on Saturday, I especially wish to stress the importance of taking extra precautions and urging your children to report any suspicious behavior to a trusted adult immediately. The district will also continue to stress safety precautions with students in the classroom.

If you have any questions and/or concerns, please do not hesitate to call my office at 376-7001.

Dr. Yiendhy Farrelly,
Superintendent of Schools
