The district’s elementary schools celebrated Red Ribbon Week with activities, assemblies and themed days to show their commitment to being healthy and drug-free.

To kick off the week, all of the elementary schools held outdoor assemblies on Oct. 20, with several schools joining together for the celebration. Students decorated red ribbons and took pledges to be drug-free. Additionally, speakers focused on the importance of displaying good character traits.

During its Red Ribbon and Character Counts ceremony, Santapogue celebrated the importance of good character in conjunction with the importance of being drug-free. The Red Ribbon Week Committee decorated the inside of the school with a giant red ribbon with every child’s name on it, red bracelets were given to students and staff, and red ribbons were sent home for families to display in their windows.
