In addition to the annual toy collection for the John Theissen Children’s Foundation, several members of the West Babylon High School faculty got into the spirit of giving this November.
In a unique fundraising drive, every male teacher who volunteered to participate was required to grow a beard and pay an entrance fee of $20.
This fundraiser was done in the style of the popular “Movember” fundraiser that generates awareness of prostate cancer by having participants grow moustaches during the month of November. The West Babylon High School teachers decided to take all funds collected and help the needy families of the West Babylon community. The approximately $800 raised will be used to purchase additional items which were not collected through the district-run adopt-a-family program.
