Making Social-Emotional Support Available

On Nov. 19, the district Wellness Committee hosted a Social-Emotional Health Awareness Night for all parents of the district. The informative and free event held at the high school touched upon numerous subjects and provided local resources to all those in attendance.

Upon receiving an overview of the evening from Executive Director for Curriculum and Instruction Christine Tona, attendees were invited to attend three 30-minute workshops of their choosing from a list of 13 sessions presented by West Babylon students, staff and local experts. Workshops exploring a myriad of topics were made available to parents and students.

Representatives from Kid Esteem, Long Island Crisis Center, Pride for Youth, Pedersen Krag and the West Babylon Main Street Organization, as well as West Babylon Senior High School members of SADD and the Leo Club, set up tables in the lobby of the school with information readily available to visitors.
